Technical Support for ESSDACK NOW
If you are unable to view or hear ESSDACK NOW broadcasts, first check to see that your computer has the correct software and settings. (see below for Mac and PC settings.) If your computer does have the correct software and settings we recommend that you forward this information to your network administrator to make sure your network settings are correct.
Please DO NOT contact us until you have consulted your network administrator! Most problems associated with ESSDACK NOW are network and firewall settings.
You can have your network administrator reach our tech support at 620 663 9566 or feel free to e-mail Bryan Rholing for further assistance.

If you've installed QuickTime 7, but keep getting a QuickTime 7 plugin needed when visiting the broadcast page, or if you launch the Quicktime player and receive "Quicktime failed to initialize.ÊError 2093", the problem is related to the Quicktime installation. Please visit Apple's Support site for further assistance.
Network Administrator
Be sure that the client is using QuickTime 7. These broadcasts are compressed using MPEG 4, earlier players do not work with this compression method.
Microsoft Proxy (may work for other proxy servers as well)
- If you are having problems connecting, try the following:
- In the Quicktime Plugin Settings go to the Streaming Proxy section.
- Un-check use System Settings.
- Un-check Socks Server and RTSP Proxy Server if they're checked.
- HTTP Proxy Server should be checked with the following information: The IP Address of the MS Proxy Server, and an 80 in the Port ID box.
- If the MS Proxy Server is set up for authentication, click on HTTP Proxy Options and enter the username and password. Otherwise leave this part blank.
- The Bypass proxy server for the hosts box should be empty.
- If you were at the ESSDACK NOW site at the time, you'll have to refresh the page.
TwoTrees
TwoTrees Technology is a company based in Wichita that provides firewall protection to several schools across Kansas. They have set up their firewalls to allow ESSDACK NOW broadcasts, but there are Quicktime plugin settings that must be changed on the client workstation.
- Proper Settings - Quicktime:
- Streaming Proxy - do not have anything checked (uncheck Use System Settings, uncheck SOCKS, HTTP, or RTSP server), and the "bypass proxy server for these hosts" should be blank.
- Streaming Transport - HTTP Port ID 80.
For more information, please visit Apple's QuickTime Proxy page.
Firewall Settings (may be necessary in some cases)
QuickTime follows the conventions of the RTP and RTSP Internet standards to stream media over the web. To enable QuickTime 7 to work properly inside your firewall, please use the following IETF recommendation:
- Open port 554 for RTSP/TCP data.
- Open ports 6970 through 6999 (inclusive) for RTP/UDP data.
If you were at the ESSDACK NOW site at the time, you'll have to refresh the page. If you have any remaining questions, comments or problems, please call 620-663-9566.
